Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace of South Carolina says the GOP should cave on abortion. Mace opposed the recent vote on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act stating: “We learned nothing from the midterms if this is how we’re going to operate in the first week. Millions of women across the board were angry over overturning Roe v. Wade.”
Media elites have been quick to blame Republicans’ poor performance in the 2022 Midterms on the abortion issue. For example, Politico reported, “A predicted ‘red wave’ crashed into wall of abortion rights support . . .” in November.
But Senate Republicans hardly fought back on the abortion issue as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) refused to even give tacit support to federal legislation to end even just 5% of abortions nationwide.
Nevertheless, media elites and GOP insiders are urging Republicans to run even further away from the abortion issue.
